Secrets

I really must get better at updating the blog!  I've been having a jam packed filofax few weeks with new purchases and changing set ups.  I recently purchased a personal saffiano in green and was really surprised by how nice it was, considering it isn't leather.  I'm using it as my health and exercise tracker as I try and get back on track with that stuff - I'll show my set up once it is more settled!

I have been wondering lately about how open other people are about their filofax obsession.  I haven't really told my family and friends about this - they know I have a filofax but they do not know the extent of my interest.  Am I the only one or is it generally something that we keep to ourselves?  I quite like the fact that it is my interest and seperate from the day to day life with my family and friends.  I also love the fact that I have a way of connecting with other people who understand this interest.  The philofaxy facebook page is brilliant and I love the way that people, who at the end of the day are strangers, are so supportive and offer all sorts of advice - what more can you ask for?!

I have had an instragram account for a while which is a mixture of a lot of different aspects of my life but because I don't share my filofax interest with all the people I am connected to on instagram, I don't really use it for filofax/stationery related pictures.  So I have set up a new account - tehfilo - have a look and follow.  There isn't much at the moment but I'm sure it will build up in no time.

Hope everyone has had a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Sunday 28 April 2013

Well it's been a few weeks and I've been on a little bit of a filofax related spending spree.  I will put on here what I have bought over the next few posts.  I'm going to start with the new binder that I bought recently.  I am been after an osterley for quite some time but could not justify the price of it until one came up on ebay that was reasonably priced so I went for it.  I do love it - albeit with a couple of little niggles.  Here is the current set up (warning picture heavy):

Not the best representation of the colour - it's a lovely plum colour.

I have some Martha Stewart post its in the card slot and another set of bigger ones in the larger pocket at the back.  This is the year diary.

This is the current week - I use different colours to keep it looking interesting.  The stickers also add a bit of colour.  The arrow is actually a book mark that my daughter bought from Waterstones - I quite like it.

Notes section

Projects section - I keep work stuff in here

Information section - I'm just using this for some random things at the moment.  This is the start of a list of books that I want to read.

Financial section - self explanatory!

At the back I keep some stickers - some in a envelope and some just loose at the back.

More stickers

At the back - yet more stickers in the back pocket and some of my business cards from work

I've recently bought a coleto pen from ebay.  I like it.  I bought the barrel and 15 refills in all different colours so I have enough to keep me going for a while.

The colours that I am using at the moment are orange, pink, brown and green.

The niggles that I have with the osterley are the pen loops - when you have a pen it can squash the paper in the planner if you don't put the pen just right.  It has 2 pen loops for some reason but I don't think that you can really use both of them.  There are also some worrying wear marks on the top and bottom of the planner which I don't like.  I have contacted Filofax customer services so will see what they have to say.

My Week #3

Here is last weeks view - not as much going on due to the long weekend.  Spent some time last night making some new dividers for both the chameleon and the malden - the set up isn't working well for me at the moment so am giving some thought to what I need and will do a post once I have decided.

Weekly views

Not a very exciting week.  Attended parents evening on Wednesday and received very positive reports and then got snowed in at the end of the week.  Am really enjoying the dodopad diary at the moment.  Have also ordered the organised mum diary for my personal malden to see if I like that.

I've carried on with my sort of journal this week - it nice to be able to record some things without the pressure of writing a lot.

I really wanting a new filo at the moment and like the Osterley - just can't justify the cost - I need one with lots of money off!

Snow!

It's been snowing steadily in North Wales since Friday night and is the heaviest snow that I think I have ever seen!  There is no way that I am going to be able to drive in it and as food and drink is a necessity I will have to walk to our local supermarket for some supplies.  Luckily I had enough in for yesterday but unless we are going to live on sweetcorn, beans and pickles I think the snow boots will have to be dug out of the cupboard.  This is the view of my driveway:

I only have a small car and if it continues it is likely to disappear completely!!  The cat and dog are both reluctant to go out - I can't blame the dog as she is a jack russell and quite small - her legs disappear and her belly must get cold :)

Hopefully the snow will start to ease off over the next couple of hours and things will get a bit better. Fingers crossed!

Weekly views

There are a few blogs that I enjoy reading and one that has caught my eye recently is Planet Millie http://mslogica.com/

I really liked the planner that she has with the cute drawings and thought I would try something similar. I've never been someone who has kept a journal, the process of writing about my day or thoughts or feelings has just never clicked and I have tried! This approach seemed like it was worth a try - I am not good with drawing and mine is no where near as nice as Planet Millie's but I enjoyed doing it nevertheless.

I also enjoy reading Paper Love Story blog http://www.paperlovestory.com/ and love the my week review and loads of people taking part. I've recently starting using a dodopad diary and am enjoying it at the moment. I like to doodle so this is great. There isn't as much space to write but I like that as I hate empty space on the page.

I'm doing this update on my ipad and am having trouble with formatting but hopefully it looks ok! If the links haven't worked, I'll update them on my laptop later. Apologies for the awful pictures too - not the best with the shadows!

Tuesday 12 March 2013

Well despite my last post saying I was going to post more - I didn't!!  I've been drifting a little the last few months, for no particular reason other than sometimes it happens.  I've read a lot and have rediscovered my love for cross stitch so I guess some things have happened.  Christmas came and went and then in came 2013 - which is moving just as quick as last year and I can't believe it is March already.  My daughter turned 11 last week and also found out which high school she will be going to in September.  We worked really hard last year towards her passing an entrance exam for a grammer school, which she did and luckily, even though we don't live in the catchment area she has been offered a place in that school - I'm so proud!

Have carried on using my filofax - I have been using my personal malden for the past few months but just this week have moved back into my A5 Chameleon.  It is obviously bigger and after just a few days it is stuffed full of stuff and if I'm not careful will not be practical in terms of carrying around every day.  I like to use different coloured pens in my planner and have a selection in a pencil case but my bag is getting so heavy it is ridiculous - if anyone has any tips on nice multi-colour pens I would appreciate it.  I have the Bic 4 colour pen with the purple, green, pink and light blue which I like but haven't found any others that do interesting colours.

In this quest to find another pen, I found myself in staples today.  I did pick up some pens but not what I had planned.  I also bought some other bits that I didn't really need but that's the danger of going into somewhere like Staples.

Here is what I bought today:

I like these pens - quite fine nibs but good
A little notebook for my daughter - cute!
Martha Stewart bits and pieces - big fan of these and had 40% off!
All togther
I was happy with my little haul although I was also after some nice notebooks - a little like exercise books but with nice paper and covers.  I didn't find anything so I think it is going to have to be an internet search.

I really am going to make an effort to do more with this - even if no-one is reading it, I like to have somewhere to put record the little details in my life :-)
